You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST in the CORPOARATE OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT of SOUTHWEST REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CENTER. SALARY: GS-09: $68,297 - $88,786 GS-11: $82,633 - $107,421

Duties

You will assist in developing, implementing, organizing, and coordinating initial, recurring, and refresher Security Education Training and Awareness (SETA) requirements. You will assist management in developing, coordinating, monitoring, analyzing, and evaluating the command Antiterrorism/Foreign Travel program; implement force protection and anti-terrorism plans, policies, and procedures. You will assist management in organizing, coordinating, and administering the Security Working Group and Threat Working Group activities and provide foreign travel/Area Of Responsibility (AOR) briefing. You will review, validates, verifies, and transmits requests for initial security investigations using personnel security questionnaire (PSQ) programs of record. You will ensure mandated SETA and command specific training and awareness requirements are met. You will provide technical advice and assistance to command personnel through the Security Manager in the areas of personnel security, clearance database accounts, and verification/validation and resolution of personnel security clearance issues.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • This position is designated as a Security Professional Educational Development (SPeD) position. Certification in designated field is required within 24 months of assuming the position and must be maintained through the entire length of employment.

Qualifications

FOR GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-09) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing, reviewing, and validating personnel and physical security investigations to resolve security regulations and program (e.g. Security, Education, Training, and Awareness (SETA)) issues impacting force protection of a command. FOR GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-07) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: planning, reviewing, and validating personnel and physical security investigations to assist in resolving security regulations and program (e.g. Security, Education, Training, and Awareness (SETA)) issues impacting force protection of a command. For the GS-11:
Ph.D.ORequivalent doctoral degree
OR
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
OR
LL.M., if related.

For the GS-09:
Master's OR equivalent graduate degree
OR
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
ORLL.B. or J.D., if related.
