You will serve as an Engineering Technician in the Rotary Wing & Test Pilot School Instrumentation Branch, (AD4140M), Aircraft Instrumentation Division (AID) of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV.
This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
You will be responsible for test instrumentation systems design, development, procurement, fabrication, installation, calibration, operations, and maintenance support of aircrafts at the United States Naval Test Pilot School (USNTPS).
You will design, install, maintain, and modify existing flight test instrumentation systems installed in USNTPS aircraft.
You will plan and accomplish projects or studies that require independent adaptation of information and data, interpretation and use of precedents, and the ability and knowledge to make sound engineering compromises and decisions.
You will coordinate/direct project efforts of team members including supporting shops and laboratories, formulating and overseeing the data analysis of instrumentation tests, calibrations, and instrumentation reports required for USNTPS flight test.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
FOR GS-11:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1) Applying knowledge of instrumentation test engineering concepts, practices, and procedures; 2) Designing, configuring, documenting, developing and configuring aircraft test instrumentation/instrumentation systems; 3) Troubleshooting electrical/electronic issues in addition to using the related tools; and 4) Reading and interpreting electrical and electronic schematics and drawings.
FOR GS-12:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1) Applying broad knowledge of test instrumentation systems design, development, procurement, fabrication, installation, calibration, operations, and maintenance support of aircrafts; 2) Serving as a team/project leader, directing and/or coordinating the work of other engineers and technicians; 3) Providing instrumentation design expertise in order to support flight test operations; and 4) Mastery of specialized data acquisition systems, instrumentation and video recorders utilized for aircrafts.
