You will serve as a TRAINING SPECIALIST in the Operations Department of NAVAL AIR TERMINAL.

Duties

You will make presentations in formal or informal training classrooms. You will serve as the command's point of contact for issues involving key and lock control and physical security relating to the Air Terminals Explosive Safety Program. You will review training records prior to recommendation for certifications. You will develop or revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) relating to training and safety practices of the Explosive Safety Program. You will ensure that all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) meet the requirements of the governing instructions and are reviewed annually. You will ensure training is gauged by the ability to provide quality results in the handling, receipt, transportation and inspection of all applicable ordnance items.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Maintaining the highest level of standardize training requirements in accordance with all applicable Navy, Air Mobility Command (AMC) and Department of Transportation (DOT) Regulations; 2) Analyzing training programs, engaging in course and test development while assessing training needs and maintaining training records while ensuring regulatory compliance with the safety program; 3) Utilizing training methods and teaching techniques to development curriculum and testing for formal training environment (classroom/lab), on-the-job training (OJT, and computer-based training (CBT); 4) Coordinating with the facilities manager to ensure additions or modifications to air terminal facilities meet existing safety/security requirements. In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Master's or equivalent graduate degree

OR

2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree

OR

LL.B. or J.D., if related
