Duties
Duties:
The incumbent of this position will be responsible for:
Plans, directs, performs, and supervises victim assistance program operations within the district.
Serves as supervisor for the Victim Witness section planning and assigning work for subordinates, evaluating work of subordinates, and providing instruction to employees on technical and administrative matters.
Provides authoritative advice to USAO leadership and acts as point person for victim matters within the district.
Designs, develops, and directs the dissemination of information pertinent to victim protection laws.
Speaks to public, civic, industry, and special interest groups about victim issues.
Develops and provides training, information, and resources to attorneys, support staff, federal investigative agencies and tribal, state, and local law enforcement and community services providers on victim matters.
Provides issue analysis, recommendations, advice and strategic plans to the U.S. Attorney on victim matters.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
- You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
- If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
- If selected, you will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a one year supervisory or managerial probationary period unless this requirement has been met previously.
- Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
- You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position.
Qualifications
GS-12
To be eligible at the GS-11 level, you must meet one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level.
Specialized Experience
Specialized Experience is defined as experience performing the following types of duties: planning, directing, performing, or supervising victim-witness operations; analyzing victim-witness communication needs in order to develop and administer a comprehensive victim-witness program; determining eligibility for victim-witness services; experience developing program protocols, policies and operating procedures for the victim-witness assistance program; experience providing direct services and support to crime victims throughout the legal process by assuring compliance with laws and policies concerning crime victims; experience conducting workshops, seminars or meetings with victim-witness subject-matter specialist, state and local officials; experience assisting crime victims with obtaining services such as interpreters, transportation; administration of federal programs and funds,(i.e. Emergency Witness Assistance Program, Federal Crime Victim Assistance Fund, Trafficking Victims Protection Act, etc.).
