The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as a first level supervisor, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to 505 TRS.
Duties
Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the 505 TRS Instructor Training and Support Section, ensuring
that all 505 TRS courses comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meet customer needs
Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities
Represents 505 TRS with a variety of installation and functional area organizations
Plans, coordinates, and designs in-residence and distance learning instruction for the 505 TRS
Measures the effectiveness and efficiency of in-residence and distance learning instructional programs
Maintain qualifications as a Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) Academic Instructor Course

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions, Training Instruction Series 1035.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience at the GS-12 (or higher) grade level or equivalent in other pay systems. My experience demonstrates a practical knowledge of a Supervisory Training Specialist and of the methods and techniques of instruction. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s). Supervising or administering a training program. Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results. Work with air operations that required training or instructing others on a regular basis.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. In-depth knowledge of academic processes and procedures used to develop, assess, execute, evaluate, and revise
in-residence and distant learning curricula to maintain academic standards consistent with civilian universities and
military service schools. Air Operations Center experience and a two-year nationally/regionally accredited academic
degree is highly desirable.
2. In-depth knowledge of training program administration, policies, and procedures to develop an adequate training program including a clear understanding of the application of recognized Instructional Systems Development (ISD) models for curriculum development and evaluation purposes.
3. In-depth knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of instruction to include use of technology for design and delivery of training.
4. Knowledge of data collection techniques and practices used to extract or obtain a variety of information required for the evaluation of training programs.
5. Ability to establish program objectives and to assess progress toward their achievement.
6. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
7. Skill to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely and with technical accuracy in responding to work-related problems and questions and conduct training instruction.
8. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
