Duties

Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the Training Mission Support Flight. Develops goals and objectives that integrate organization and training mission support objectives. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Directs, coordinates, and oversees work through subordinate supervisors. Advises staff regarding policies, procedures, and directives of higher level management or headquarters. Represents the organization with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with ACC, TRSS, USAFWC, 505 CCW, and 505 TRG. Assess feasibility of using instructional technology and other advanced methodologies for instructional courses, programs and projects. Supervises staff to develop instructional programs based on instructional technology and complex technological applications. Maintain qualifications as a Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) Academic Instructor Course certified instructor. Teaches throughout the year to impart knowledge on the students and to retain currency.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance.
  • This position requires the employee to occasionally travel or long periods away from the normal duty station to include CONUS or overseas and may include remote or isolated areas.
  • The employee may be required to travel on military or commercial aircraft to accomplish temporary duty.
  • This position may require the employee to work under adverse environmental conditions.
  • The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and or holidays and or overtime.
  • Incumbent may be required to stand for several hours at a time while instructing in a classroom environment.
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Training Instruction Series 1712 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-13, or equivalent in other pay systems that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s); Supervising or administering a training program; Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results; Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-?grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-13 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-14 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. In-depth knowledge of academic processes and procedures used to develop, assess, execute, evaluate and revise in[1]residence and distant learning curricula to maintain academic standards consistent with civilian universities and military service schools. Air Operations Center experience and a two-year nationally/regionally accredited academic degree is highly desirable. 2. In-depth knowledge of training program administration, policies, and procedures to develop an adequate training program including a clear understanding of the application of recognized Instructional Systems Development (ISD) models for curriculum development and evaluation purposes. 3. In-depth knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of instruction to include use of technology for design and delivery of training. 4. Knowledge of data collection techniques and practices used to extract or obtain a variety of information required for the evaluation of training programs. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. 5. Ability to establish program objectives and to assess progress toward their achievement. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a medium sized organization. 6. Skill to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely and with technical accuracy in responding to work-related problems and questions and conduct training instruction. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
