You will serve as an IT Specialist (SYSADMIN) of NAVSUP BUSINESS SYSTEMS CENTER.

Duties
You will support application development initiatives, designs, tailors, documents, tests, prototypes, and implements highly unique and complex operating systems and utilities for new and existing mid-tier hardware systems.
You will perform systems administration functions in support of application development initiatives while planning and scheduling the installation of new or modified hardware/software.
You will design and develop new or unique software diagnostics and testing methodology for resolving new and unparalleled hardware, software or communication problems across multi-system environments
You will recommend proper use of operating system and supporting software for all levels of NAVSUP BSC, NAVSUP management, as well as customer programming and analysis staff.
You will provide liaison services and work closely with the vendor of the integrator until problems are satisfactorily resolved.
You will maintain system configuration and manage the installation and integration of security and system patches, updates and enhancements.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined:
1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
In addition to your experience demonstrating the four competencies above, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Conducting system monitoring, ensuring resource utilization and uptime as well as modelling for proactive configuration changes; 2) Installing operating systems, application software, security updates, support packages and plug-in updates; 3) Identifying and prioritizing issues from a ticketing system, analyzing issues and researching to find the correct solution, engaging customers promptly and providing them accurate information, correcting system issues with little to no guidance; 4) Providing a broad range of analysis in performing design and development efforts in a timely manner utilizing knowledge of Windows and Unix operating system architecture, telecommunications topology/protocols, hardware/software, firmware and application software; 5) Supporting application development initiatives utilizing knowledge of IT systems hardware, environmental software capabilities and interrelationships.
