Duties

The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) at Los Angeles Air Force Base is searching for a Deputy Director, Space Domain Awareness and Combat Power (NH-1101-04). Description: The Deputy Director of the SDACP directorate (Space Systems Command) supports the Program Executive Officer (PEO) and deputy PEO to manage a 1000-person directorate at multiple locations throughout the country, to deliver capabilities to operators across the United States Space Force and National Security Space community. The Deputy Director is a Key Leadership Position charged with directing initiatives and resources for the Space Domain Awareness and Combat Power portfolio. This position has day-to-day interaction with PEO/deputy PEO to help build a culture, team and infrastructure that will deliver solutions that directly address U.S. Space Force requirements. This includes actions such as: Build and foster a high trust-work environment through actions that leverage the strengths and talents of the team. Recognizes the outstanding accomplishments made by individuals and/or teams by managing the awards program. Work with Directorate and Delta leaders, SSC support offices and peers to maintain and improve processes throughout the command. Foster open communication across the leadership team and responds timely to unique situations. Effectively communicate across ALL levels of the organization, both in writing and orally. Ensure organizational goals, commitments and feedback are communicated to the civilian, military and contractor workforce in a timely manner. Establish a work environment where team members feel free to engage in open, candid exchanges, and diverse points of views. Team with other senior leaders to maintain situational awareness of issues and assist each other on their respective issues in the other's absence. Collaborate on taskers, sharing information and knowledge, to ensure on-time completion and consistent messaging across the Delta. Collaborate with Directorate and Division senior leadership to maintain awareness of technical and schedule risks that could result in a technical or financial impact(s) and assist in developing and implementing mitigation strategies. Participate in integrated Planning, Programming, Budget, and Execution activities to advance USSF capabilities and ensure efficiency and effectiveness. Guide execution of the Directorate's Human Resources functions, to include military and civilian manpower, and training programs. Ensures overall consistency, balance, and continuity of HR management across the Directorate. Serves as the Directorate Acq Demo pay pool manager. The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes: Must have leadership experience and demonstrated skill in managing a high-performing workforce integrating program management and technical competencies. Familiarity with Space Domain Awareness and Combat Power programs. Working knowledge/experience in Military and Department of Defense Civilian personnel management human resources systems. Working knowledge/experience as a United States Air Force (USAF) or United States Space Force (USSF) Acquisition Program Manager. Working knowledge/experience working with the USAF/USSF Financial Management System/process- Desired: Defense Acquisition University (DAU) Certified in Program Management, Engineering, Contracting or Financial Management Highly desired: Bachelor's degree. Desired: Master's degree. Key Skills and Abilities: 1. Knowledge of the policies, practices, regulations, and laws concerning the acquisition management process and initiatives. 2. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. 3. Knowledge of the missions, roles, functions, organizational structures, and operation of the DOD, Air Force, and organizations that govern, interface with, and/or influence the systems acquisition process. 4. Skill to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff in critical aspects of development and production, support of systems, subsystems, or equipment and to coordinate various aspects of systems acquisition such as engineering, contracting, financial management, configuration, test, and manufacturing. 5. Ability to supervise, mentor, motivate, appraise, and work with subordinate supervisors and non-supervisory employees. 6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, with technical accuracy and to use computers and a variety of software programs and databases, gather and analyze a variety of program information, make sound judgments concerning program progress, and effectively communicate recommendations orally and in writing to higher organizational management and contractors.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • This position is on-site and eligible for telework, 2-4 days per pay period.
  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret w/SCI clearance.
  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
  • Employee may be required to work extended or other than normal duty hours to include evenings and weekends and may be subject to recall.
  • This position has been designated for drug testing. Incumbent is subject to random urinalysis testing as a condition of employment.
  • Employee must within 30-days of assuming this position and by 31 October annually thereafter, file an OGE-450, “Confidential Financial Disclosure Report.” Employee is required to attend annual ethics and procurement integrity training.
  • PCS and relocation funding are available.
