The United States Space Force (USSF) at Los Angeles Space Force Base is searching for Materiel Leaders for PTS-R, PTS-G, and GPS IIIF (NH-1101-04, GS 14/15 equivalent).
Description:
At the United States Space Force's, Space Systems Command (SSC), we deliver resilient space capabilities to defend the Nation in the contested space domain. Through unity of effort across the commercial industry, joint forces, government agencies, and academic and allied partnerships, we are developing resilient system-of-systems space capabilities to maintain the Nation's strategic advantage to operate freely and peacefully in space.This announcement is for three Materiel Leader positions: Protected Tactical SATCOM - Resilient (PTS-R), Protected Tactical SATCOM - Global (PTS-G), and GPS IIIF. As a Materiel Leader, you will be responsible for cost, schedule, performance and risk management. This includes interfacing with Congress, the Office of Secretary of Defense, Geographic and Functional Combatant Commands, and other Services and agencies on a regular basis.
Ideal Candidate:
This supervisory position requires strong leadership/organizational skills; superior communication skills; and the ability to execute a multitude of interrelated efforts. Position requires program office knowledge, extensive understanding of acquisition principles and business acumen. Plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates activities of functional specialists including program management, engineering, cyber security, configuration management, test, and logistics, etc.
This is a Key Leadership Position (KLP). Incumbent must meet or qualified for a waiver to the following requirements:
- Advanced APDP certification in Program Management (required upon assignment)
- Completed DAU Program Manager's Courses. (must be completed within 6 months of assuming the position)
- Written tenure agreements are required to be assigned to this position
Key Responsibilities:
1. In depth knowledge of the policies, practices, regulations, and laws concerning the acquisition management process and initiatives.
2. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
3. Extensive knowledge of the missions, roles, functions, organizational structures, and operation of the DOD, Space Force, and organizations that govern, interface with, and/or influence the systems acquisition process.
4. Skill to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff in critical aspects of development and production, support of systems, subsystems, or equipment and to coordinate various aspects of systems acquisition such as engineering, contracting, financial management, configuration, test, and manufacturing.
5. Ability to supervise, mentor, motivate, appraise, and work with subordinate supervisors and non-supervisory employees.
6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, with technical accuracy and to use computers and a variety of software programs and databases, gather and analyze a variety of program information, make sound judgments concerning program progress, and effectively communicate recommendations orally and in writing to higher organizational management and contractors.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S Citizen.
- Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret / SCI clearance.
- May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
- May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
- Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
- This position is eligible for telework 2-4 days a pay period.
- Supervisory requirements may be required depending upon the position being filled.
- This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program.
- PCS / Relocation funding is available.
