Duties
The United States Space Force (USSF) at the Los Angeles AFB is searching for a Future Systems Program Manager, SZA (NH-1101-04, GS14/15 equivalent).
Description:
Come be a part of the United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) as a Guardian in the Advanced Programs Branch (SSC/SZAI) where the mission is to design, build, and maintain unrivaled space domain awareness and combat power capability. Space Domain Awareness (SDA) is the capability to detect, track, identify and characterize space objects and the space environment to identify risks and threats affecting space systems. The Future Systems Program Manager (PM) serves as the Branch's lead program manager to lead and mange an effort to transition critical advanced technology into operational capability. The Branch is a 30-member government and contractor team managing a portfolio of programs with an annual budget of $450M. The Futures Systems PM supports the Materiel Leader and the Senior Materiel Leader in directing major program and system acquisitions through fielding. The Future Systems PM will be expected to interface with USSF, DoD, and USG Agencies with regards to SDA and other relevant advanced technology efforts related to systems of systems collaboration and integration.
Ideal Candidate:
Classified SAP program experience desired; Background and/or experience in Program Management, Background and/or experience with Systems Engineering, Integration and Test; Background and/or experience with Space Vehicle Design, Integration, Assembly, and Test; Intimately familiar with space system acquisition, challenges, interfaces, architecture, and stakeholders; Leading technical teams, Knowledge of PPB&E process; Master's degree in science, engineering, or business management; Supervisory/Leadership experience; Program Management DAWIA Certification (Advanced); Systems of systems integration experience desired.
Candidate must have experience leading specialized space vehicle teams and ability to take calculated risks. They must be creative and bring novel solutions to space vehicle integration assembly & test and look outside the system. Candidate should be innovative and have the ability to push the technology envelop, deliver in operational relevant environment, and shift paradigms. Candidate should possess skills to listen and communicate with a wide range of people across roles, geographies and social identities. Candidate should possess the ability to understand complex issues and assess risks to make decisions.
Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of the policies, practices, regulations, and laws concerning the acquisition management process and initiatives.
2. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
3. Knowledge of the missions, roles, functions, organizational structures, and operation of the DOD, Air Force, and organizations that govern, interface with, and/or influence the systems acquisition process.
4. Skill to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff in critical aspects of development and production, support of systems, subsystems, or equipment and to coordinate various aspects of systems acquisition such as engineering, contracting, financial management, configuration, test, and manufacturing.
5. Ability to supervise, mentor, motivate, appraise, and work with subordinate supervisors and non-supervisory employees.
6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, with technical accuracy and to use computers and a variety of software programs and databases, gather and analyze a variety of program information, make sound judgments concerning program progress, and effectively communicate recommendations orally and in writing to higher organizational management and contractors.
Requirements

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret / SCI security clearance.
- Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
- May be required travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- Random drug testing may be required depending upon the position being filled.
- Supervisory requirements may be required depending upon the position being filled.
- May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
- This position is not eligible for telework.
