This position is part of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency. The incumbent will be responsible for plans, initiates, and manages implementation of comprehensive DSCU public affairs campaigns to enhance the understanding of DSCU's programs within DoD, other Federal agencies, academia and Partner nations.
Duties
As a PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST at the GS-1035-12 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Leads the DSCU Strategic Communications Working Group and provide direction to DSCU component communications professionals and leads for public affairs guidance and consultation to DSCU sections and geographically dispersed components; ensures branding, uniformity, and one-DSCU voice while also assisting with initiating and maintaining direct contact with geographic general publics, specialized groups, and community entities.
Maintains knowledge and understanding of existing policies for DoD and DSCA Strategic Communications standards and guidelines to ensure products developed comply with existing policy guidance.
Develops DSCU strategic communications vision, principals, content, messages, delivery approaches, marketing and campaign plans that support and address DSCU's highest priorities and challenges and directs DSCU's social media platforms, to include LinkedIn.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-12, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service:
Assisting in providing guidance and consultation in initiating and maintaining direct contacts with the general public, media, and community and/or governmental entities.
Developing strategic communications vision, principals, content, messages, delivery approaches, marketing and campaign plans.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
