About the Position: As the DASADEC Public Affairs Officer (PAO), the incumbent develops and executes strategic, public affairs communication plans and services that leverage all available communication media and emerging technologies to most effectively communicate DASADEC's story and Security Cooperation, Security Assistance, and Armaments Cooperation messaging.
Duties
• Serves as the primary spokesperson to the news media for interface, public relations, conference coordination, and dissemination of official DASADEC information.
• Develops and executes strategic, public affairs communication plans and services that leverage all available communication media and emerging technologies to most effectively communicate DASADEC’s story and messaging.
• Develops and implements agency policies, plans, and procedures for managing and coordinating continuing and new communication and marketing plans, outreach activities, and engagement programs; disseminates this guidance for implementation.
• Serves as the primary advisor to senior staff in the formulation of guidance regarding the development and release of official DASADEC responses to media inquiries.
• Performs the full range of administrative and technical supervisory duties
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent subject to a One-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- Incumbent is required to submit an Online Confidential Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450 upon entering the position and annually.
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SSI security clearance.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter.
- Position is subject to extended work hours in the evening, weekend and holidays.
- TDY travel is occasionally required.
- ELIGIBLE FOR SITUATIONAL TELEWORK ONLY, INCLUDING EMERGENCY AND OPM PRESCRIBED "UNSCHEDULED TELEWORK".

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1. Overseeing the release of all official information to the news and social media, user forums, communities of interest, as well as the general public. 2. Keeping senior management, and other required parties advised of controversial and time-sensitive issues. 3. Preparing release of information, such as speeches, marketing materials, reports, news articles, feature stories, talking points, campaign plans, press releases, branding material, web and social media content to promote organization's mission and vision. AND 4. Evaluating public affairs program effectiveness, efficiency, and economy to ensure the most appropriate and cost-effective multi-media communication techniques and approaches are employed. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NH-03).
