You will serve as a Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist in the Community Relations Branch of HQ US MARINE CORPS.

Duties

You will plan, develop, execute and supervise the participation in nationally significant community relations programs and events. You will evaluate which business outreach programs the command should pursue, secure, maintain, and enhance relationships throughout the life of the program. You will ensure qualitative, analytical and systems support throughout the planning, and execution of at least four departments. You will oversee the continued interaction of participants following the forum to ensure the command maintains relationships with all participants. You will ensure correspondence with business leaders is maintained by inviting them to Sunset/Evening Parades, and other command functions as deemed appropriate. You will Determine feasibility of command support, establish partnerships with local government officials from hosting cities and secure venue and permit requirements. You will coordinate shaping operations; vehicle and aircraft staging plans; reception events; community service projects and command general officer participation.

Requirements

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require occasional travel from normal duty station.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101
  • You will be required to maintain a valid state Driver's License.
  • Occasional overtime will be required including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • You will be required to complete a one-year supervisory probationary period.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector developing, integrating and assessing service-level communication plans, guidance, and music programs; produce communication products; and inform and educate relevant audiences to achieve institutional objectives.
