About the Position: This position is located in the Plans and Operations (P&O) Section of DPTMS. P&O is responsible for the planning and execution of plans in order to sync installation functions and posture the installation in the event of a natural or man-made disaster.

Duties

Analyze classified and unclassified message traffic and news service reports received via phone, email, Automated Message Handling System, tactical radio, and internet. Inform leadership of impacts of military operations missions on the command's mission and resources. Process warning orders, operations orders, etc. assigned or produced by headquarters. Monitor weather and fire levels for Joint Base Lewis-McChord and Yakima Training Center to assess threats or hazards. Prepare and process emergency notifications messages using mass notification systems.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Position is “Key” and will not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization. Incumbent must be exempt from recall to active duty and will receive training to ensure mission accomplishment of sustaining base operations during mobilization.
• Position is Mission Essential which may require you to work or remain at work during an emergency situation or when inclement weather has curtailed operations (e.g., threat to the facility, natural disaster, delayed reporting).
• Position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Shifts are 12 hours, 3 days one week and 4 days the following week, swapping from days to nights every 90 days.
• Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
