About the Position: This position serves as a Health System Specialist located at Evans Army Community Hospital in Fort Carson, Colorado. Position maybe filled at the GS-07 level, with promotion potential to the full performance GS-09 level or filled at the full performance GS-09 level.

Duties

Assist the Joint Commission Survey Coordinator (JCSO) in planning, development and implementation of The Joint Commission (TJC) Tracer Concepts Program (TCP). Ensure the successful implementation and sustainment of the Comprehensive Accreditation Manual for Hospitals (CAMH) within the organization according to policy guidance. Identify problems with health care processes that do not comply with TJC standards in order to assist the JCSO in the formulation of recommendations and alternatives to improve the process. Ensure that Hospital staff are surveyed in accordance with current TJC Sustainment Plan to determine their perception of standards pertaining to care. Implement initiatives and changes with AMP program to meet patient and organizational needs.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is inclement weather essential. This means that you must be willing to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
  • This position requires a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccine and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • This position may require periodic immunizations (other than the influenza vaccine) and tuberculosis monitoring.
  • This position requires a successful completion personnel security background check (NACI/T1).

OR Education: Successfully completed of one full academic year of graduate-level education with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Successfully completed all the requirements for a bachelor's degree and am claiming Superior Academic Achievement. In order to be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled, such as that identified in B above. Superior Academic Achievement is based on: (1) Class Standing - You must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses; OR (2) Grade-Point Average (G.P.A.) - You must have a grade-point average of either (a) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on your official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (b) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.; OR (3) Honor Society Membership - You may be considered eligible based on membership in one of the approved national scholastic honor societies listed by the Association of College Honor Societies (https://www.achsnatl.org/). (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts and/or verification of class standing for further verification.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. (NOTE: Copy of school transcripts must be attached.) SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-09: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service that includes demonstrated experience which demonstrates experience in 1) completing administrative and assessment duties for safe delivery of health care services; 2) assisting the organization in the evaluation of health care processes; and 3) ensuring program compliance with directives, regulations, and policies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. (NOTE: Copy of school transcripts must be attached.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
