About the Position: This position is located in the Supply and Services Division of the Logistics Readiness Center Fort Belvoir.
Duties
Maintain a variety of warehousing related files and prepares various reports. Maintains warehouses, storage areas, and docks in a clean and orderly manner.
Studies items to determine shape and size of package required to be custom built, including interior blocking, bracing, suspension strips, padded braces, and interlocking partitions.
Pick up and deliver supplies or other items between the immediate organization and other activities on the installation or off. Ensures that vehicle is not loaded beyond rated capacity.
Operates general purpose motor vehicles, such as pick-up trucks, vans, stake trucks, and 4-ton van trucks in order to pick up or deliver supplies and equipment to vendors and customers throughout the National Capital Region.

- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination to ensure the required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a forklift license within 6 months of employment.
- This position may require the incumbent to travel (TDY) up to 5% of the times.
- This position requires the incumbent to possess or obtain ad maintain a valid state Driver's License.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an MATERIALS HANDLER (MVO/FLO) without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform a full variety of warehousing tasks such as receiving incoming warehouse items and equipment: Able to pick up items for designated locations and ability to unload from conveyances. Able to check items for serviceability and obvious damage, check items against packing list and purchase order for description, quantity and price and signs for receipt, note discrepancies. Place items in warehouse bins or bulk storage areas in accordance with pre-designated locations. Able to note inventory cards regarding changes in item location, quantity, and price. Able to keypunch information on computer terminal to update automated files; and participate in re-warehousing of items to users. Able to receive work orders and assemble items in holding area, prepare issue forms for self-service and other warehoused items, and notes on inventory cards changes in quantity, date of issue, and order number. Able to load designated conveyance such as supply items on trucks, vans, and other vehicles for transport to work site for reshipment, and ensures all vehicles are properly loaded, that items are identified, and that documentation is complete. Ability to design, fabricate and assemble a wide variety of wood packing boxes, crates and containers for shipment which are used to protect equipment, electronic and scientific instruments, chemicals, food, and clothing. Able to take weight, measurements and able to cut lumber using skill saws, drills and binding tools to construct different sized containers. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require the worker to stand, stoop, bend, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May lift and carry items up to 40 pounds. Heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment or with assistance from others. Uses power and manual tools and devices that typically involve continuous physical effort and extended periods of standing, bending, and stooping while building or repairing containers and material shipping devices. Exposed to noise and dust from power saws, hammers, nailing machines, and related equipment. Exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises and scrapes, splinters, muscle strains, and other injuries from using hand and power tools. Safety equipment and protective devices including safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, and proper clothes are used to minimize hazards. May be required to work at a rapid pace for long periods of time. Physical effort is used in operating hand and foot controls when driving, turning, stopping, and starting the forklifts and motor vehicles, and raising, lowering, and tilting the forklift loads. When operating large forklifts over rough terrain, extra physical effort may be required due to equipment vibrations.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside in areas that are hot, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted and ventilated. May work in adverse weather in such outside areas as open docks and storage yards subject to exposure to dust, dirt, and weather from cold to hot temperatures. Cuts, bruises, and broken bones may result from shifting loads, toppling stacks, falling objects, or accidents with other moving equipment.
