About the Position: The position is located with the Logistic Readiness Center, Supply and Services Division, Warehouse Branch in Fort Belvoir, VA 22060. This position is a TERM position not to exceed 13 months. It is a time limited position and may be extended up to a maximum of eight years.

Duties

Assembles items according to instructions to properly prepare for shipping. Issues delivery documentation to customers and depots. Process documents utilizing automated systems such as GCSS-Army Warehouse Supply to verify the quantity and condition code of items. Lays out storage space and establish item and material locations in accordance with stated regulations. Verifies incoming shipments against shipping/packing documents to ensure accuracy. Segregates items according to condition code to issue or movement. Completes documentation requirements for items received and shipped. Notes discrepancies, quantity, prices and may key punch update of information into computer. Operates material handling equipment (forklifts) to move material. Follows safety regulations to ensure motor vehicle is not loaded beyond rated capacity.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• The incumbent must successfully obtain and maintain a Tier 1 security clearance.
• The incumbent must successfully pass a pre-employment and annual physical examination.
• The incumbent may be required to travel (TDY) up to 5% of the time
• Obtain and maintain a Forklift Operator License within 90 days of appointment and thereafter.

They may lift and carry items that weigh up to 8 kilograms (40 pounds). The heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. Fork lift operating requires moderate physical effort in operating hand and foot controls while driving, turning, starting, and stopping the fork lift truck and raising, lowering, and tilting the loads being moved. Strain is caused by the vibration of the fork lift truck. Working Conditions: Work is done inside or outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted. Materials handlers are regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapers, bruises, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock or mechanized work areas. When working in hazardous materials areas, they may be subject to exposure from radiation, toxins, explosive hazards, or chemical fumes. Work may require wearing protective clothing such as hardhats, steel toed shoes, rubber gloves, masks, and rubber aprons.
