About the Position: This position is located with the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, 406th Army Field Support Brigade, Fort Belvoir, VA
Duties
Evaluates, plans and distributes work assignments on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
Develops performance standards, counsels employees on performance, and makes formal and informal performance appraisals.
Establishes a good working climate to encourage employees to participate in a safe work environment while achieving management goals, and to promote efficient and economical work operations.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Tier 1 Security Investigation.
- This position may require the incumbent to travel (TDY) up to 5% of the time.
- This position requires the incumbent to successfully complete a pre-employment physical and annually thereafter.
- This position requires the incumbent to successfully complete a one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an MATERIALS HANDLER SUPERVISOR without more than normal supervision. Duties include supervising workers directly or through subordinate leaders in accomplishing the work of an organizational segment or group. Skill in establishing deadlines, priorities, and work sequences, and planning work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by higher level supervisors; investigating work related problems and determining causes; planning and establishing overall leave schedule; determining training needs of subordinates and arranging for its accomplishment, setting performance standards and making formal appraisals of subordinate work performance. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort - Employees are often required to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time, and to bend, stoop, and work, in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions. They may lift and carry items that weigh up to 40 pounds. The heavier items are moved with material handling equipment or with assistance from other workers
Working Conditions - Work is performed inside or outside, in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted.Material handlers are regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls, and injuries from falling stock. They may be exposed to dust, dirt, grease and solvents, and to high noise levels in mechanized work areas. When working in hazardous materials areas, they may be subject to exposure from radiation toxins, explosive hazards, or chemical fumes. Work requires the wearing of protective clothing such as hardhats, steel toed shoes, rubber gloves, masks, etc.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
