Duties
Manage, direct, and execute finance operations for Defense Agency customers which requires the development of policies and procedures unique to each command in an environment of constantly changing priorities and missions.
Conducts analysis to determine the effectiveness of operations, compliance with established policies and procedures, reliability of transactions and validity of supporting documentation
Manages the review of a variety of financial policies, guidelines, data, documents, reports, processes.
Oversee audits and operational reviews performed by the Internal Control and Quality Review units to ensure correct and proper execution of Department of Defense policies on finance and accounting operations.
Manage and supervise an assigned division of staff of clerical and technical personnel.
Requirements

- Time after Competitive Appointment: Candidates must have served 3 months after latest competitive appointment in the Federal service.

Qualifications
One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-11) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized Experience at the GS-12 is defined as: identifying weaknesses and recommending solutions to ensure pay/entitlement transactions are accurately processed; researching and analyzing directives and regulations to assess their impact on current and planned financial initiatives and preparing reports and organizing and delivering briefings to managers to encourage understanding and acceptance of findings and recommendations.
Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-11 or higher grade in Federal Service.
You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.
