Duties
Serve as consultant, coach and supporter to facilitate problem solving and accomplishment of Field Office goals and priorities including in partnership settings.
Responsible for developing a program of conservation, stewardship and management of public land resources while maintaining the multiple use concept to sustain yield of products and services.
Perform personnel management functions such as hiring employees; establish performance standards and evaluate performance; identify and provide employees' developmental and training needs; assign work to subordinate staff and ensure its completion.
Manage budget and work accomplishments for land and resource programs such as: minerals, fisheries, wildlife, hydrology, ecology, hazardous materials, subsistence, cultural resources, anthropology, recreation, visitor services, and realty.
Promote internal and external communication and coordination, including local interest groups, individuals, users, the general public, State and local government, and other Federal personnel.
Requirements

- May require a one-year probationary period.
Qualifications

You must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal Service, that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: experience with land and/or resource management programs requiring multiple-use management and protection of a variety of resources (land, water, fisheries, wildlife, oil and gas, recreation, etc.) and interacting with all levels of the agency; accomplishing work through others, e.g., project manager, team or project lead, etc.; experience in developing and maintaining effective relationships to achieve goals and objectives; in conducting oral briefings and presentations; in preparing reports which identify, analyze and integrate diverse data, present findings and conclusions, and provide alternatives and/or recommendations (reports often weigh and balance diverse opinions with agency requirements and resource needs; in making clear, well-reasoned decisions balancing diverse opinions.)
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level.
