About the Position: This Electronics Technician position is with the U.S. Army Tobyhanna Army Depot DIR/Production Engineering. This is a developmental position and may be filled at the GS-10 or GS-11 level.

Duties

Serve as an engineering technician applying knowledge of electronic theory, circuit design, for development/ fabrication, of systems such as Radar/Communication Shelters, Trailers and Pallets, Equipment Racks and other multi-service applications. Establish Bill of Materials (M-BOMs and/or R-BOMs) and all component parts requirements for entire system fabrication or overhaul. Evaluate design problems and determine optimum solutions to problems. Work with Lead Engineer to incorporate design changes. Assist in solving Shop processes for routing, equipment, and time. Perform Logistics Modernization Project (LMP) and Master Production Schedule (MPS) functions relating to Engineering Manufacturing and Overhaul operations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • May be required to Travel for Duty (TDY) up to 25% of the time.
  • This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position. Selectee must meet position requirements for Engineering and Technical Management certification within 36 months as of entrance on duty.

Specialized Experience- GS-10 One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Providing technical support with testing, installing, and evaluating electronic systems such as Radar/ Communication Shelters and other type of new and specialized multi-service applications; AND 2) Assisting higher graded technicians/engineers with reading sketches and layouts to assist on the design configuration for components; AND 3) Troubleshooting electronic circuits and assemblies using test equipment, such as multi-meters. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Specialized Experience GS-11 One year of specialized which includes: 1) Overseeing assembly or soldering of printed circuit boards to ensure product acceptance in accordance with IPC class standard; AND 2) Assisting Engineers with equipment design, research and analysis, test method design, data collection, production layout and implementation; AND 3) Resolving design problems with other technical personnel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Electronics EngineeringProblem SolvingTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement GS-10: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
