You will serve as a PRODUCTION CONTROLLER (SHIPS) in the PRODUCTION DEPARTMENT of SOUTHEAST REG MAINTENANCE CTR SERMC.

Duties

You will serve as a Planner and Estimator for US Naval ships. You will write technical work specifications in various shop trades including structural, mechanical, ordnance, electrical, electronics, and piping. You will be the liaison with Product shop supervisors to support fluctuating workload requirements through reallocation of resources. You will prepare and provide technical expertise over development of definitive Formal Work procedures (FWP). You will assist rotating military enlisted personnel with common training in the area of material procurement. You will prepare and provide technical expertise over development of Controlled Work Packages (CWP). You will plan ship repairs including areas of structural, mechanical, ordnance, electrical, electronics, boiler, piping, air conditioning and refrigeration. You will review and screen incoming work requests for completeness and applicability and determine the availability of resources to accomplish tasking at the Intermediate level. You will maintain workload assignments for all work assigned for prioritization and completion based upon departmental scheduled dates.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Qualifications

To qualify for a GS-11 your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing U.S. Navy ships. Experience developing work procedures and processes related to the ship repair industry. Experience using standardized estimating procedures for production and material costs. Experience planning ship repairs including the areas of structural, mechanical, ordnance, electrical, electronics, boiler, piping, air-conditioning and refrigeration. Experience using computers and software programs required such as Navy Enterprise Maintenance Automated Information System (NEMAIS) and Microsoft programs associated with the planning process.
