About the Position: Serves as the Chief of the Command Air Mobility Division for the Joint Activities Command in Fort Liberty, NC.
Duties
Responsible for planning, directing, controlling and coordinating the development of transportation operating procedures and guidance in accordance with DOD directives.
Directs and controls the execution of strategic air movement plans during operations and exercises.
Collects, analyzes and prepares staff actions, briefings and other material/presentations to provide command and staff elements with critical data/information
Oversees budget development and manages budget plan for the transportation logistics input to the Command Operating Budget.
Provides advice and assistance to employees on unusual problems. Coordinates the work of the division and provides employee training as needed.
Conducts on-site reviews of transportation programs/system implementation and provides advice, assistance and guidance concerning existing problem areas as well as forthcoming requirements.
Director of the Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) program, overseeing the development and certification of special handling data for hazardous cargo on Air Force aircraft.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret SCI security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter.
- Position subject to 24-hour recall.
- This position requires travel and temporary duty (TDY) to various CONUS and OCONUS locations, possibly for extended periods of time up to 20% of the time.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- Employee must receive required immunizations for the overseas/deployed location.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 75 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- May deploy with command in support of training exercises under austere and potentially hazardous conditions in hostile field environments.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience: 1) Developing short and long-range air transportation requirements for a Special Operations military command. 2) Providing annual budget input for long term high-cost expenditures to ensure accurate budgetary forecasting. 3) Overseeing the development and certification of special handling data for hazardous cargo on military aircraft. 4) Developing comprehensive transportation policies and procedures for command operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
