About the Position: As a Supervisory Logistics Management Specialist, you will oversee various logistics systems and processes, and the planning, managing, coordinating and directing of logistical services and support for the command.

Duties

Exercises staff supervision and reviews logistics systems aspects of plans, policies and procedures. Implement internal controls to eliminate or minimize potential fraud, waste, abuse, mismanagement and inefficiency. Oversee command programs and staff functions, provides professional advisory services, and performs technical work to support logistics operations. Confers with personnel from military units and renders advice and assistance on matters of logistical, services, readiness and problems in related areas. Analyzes programs and projects, identify critical areas, and anticipate impact of changes in requirements and resources to determine course of action. Establishes operating policies and standards to optimize quality and effectiveness of services and responsiveness to logistical requirements. Implement innovative techniques of management and/or technology to compete with ever-increasing demands for quantity, quality and complexity of services in the face of diminishing resources. Plans for command-wide integration of US Army logistics systems and ensures that all aspects of transition-to-war requirements receive essential automated logistics system support. Responsible for preparing, updating and keeping current command regulations, pamphlets, policy memorandums and other documents that prescribe Army logistics policies and procedures. Delegates authority to subordinate supervisors and program managers and holds them responsible for the performance of their organizational elements. Oversees analysis leveraging Enterprise Resource Planning Systems and Army Management Information Systems (STAMIS). Provides management and technical support leveraging the Global Combat Support System-Army (GCSS-A) and other business (BMA)and warfighting mission area (WMA) automation platforms.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • A pre-employment and recurring background investigation that includes contact with references, employers, co-workers, personal associates, and a review of your driving record, credit history, criminal history, and military service are required.
  • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • Financial Disclosure Statement OGE Form 450 is used to assist agencies and employees to avoid conflicts between duties and financial interest.
  • This position requires a pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.
  • In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively.
  • The selectee must be exempted from recall to active duty and will receive training to ensure mission accomplishment of sustaining base operations during mobilization.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementLeadershipOral CommunicationOrganizational AwarenessPlanning and Evaluating Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-14).
