DON Pathways Internship Program
Duties
You will serve as an Engineering Technician in the Engineering Department (Code 200) in Norfolk Ship Support Activity (NSSA) in Norfolk, Virginia.
You will assist with providing routine technical assistance in the resolution of casualties and malfunctions in the components of shipboard systems.
You will research technical reports, design documentation, historical files regarding the components, and compile data for use by senior engineering technicians.
Requirements

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least 6 months of general experience and 6 months of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-3 level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. General and specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
*Experience assisting with and/or preparing drawings, material specifications, test procedures, technical work instructions, and other documents pertaining to the assigned project with technical adequacy and in compliance with specifications and quality requirements.
*Experience assisting higher-level engineers and technicians in developing modernization packages to install new systems and components on naval combatant ships.
*Experience applying engineering concepts and principles, initiative, resourcefulness, verbal/written communication skills, computer skills, and a sound technical knowledge of engineering devices.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE:
Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position:
Successful completion of 2 years above high school with courses related to the occupation that included at least 12 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics.
