This position is for a Program Support Assistant (PSA) in the Veterans Administration (VA) Veterans Health Administration (VHA) for the section of Comprehensive Pain Management in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitative Service (PMRS). The position provides full office-wide administrative and direct clerical support for the clinical work of the Pain Clinics aligned under the section of Comprehensive Pain Management of PMRS Service.
Duties
Duties include:
Serves as administrative support for the Chief of Service, Section Chief, and Administrative Officer (AO).
Provides full office-wide administrative and direct clerical support for the clinical work of the pain clinics.
Assists and monitors facility performance improvement activities as assigned.
Develops and maintains a tracking system for licensure and proficiency reports of physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners.
Ensures timely completion of clinical staff performance appraisals and proficiency reports.
Assists with conducting research to include collecting patient wait time data, potential surveys, consults management, and using other tools used by the service to provide patient care.
Organizes, prepares agendas, transcribes and distributes minutes for meetings and/or teams.
Composes and prepares letters/memorandums of a routine nature as well as non-routine correspondence for pain management.
Serves as subject matter expert and as central point of contact to provide explanation of requirements, regulations, and procedures to resolve operational problems and make recommendations.
Communicates with Section Chief and providers to identify clinic availability.
Assists with patient complaints, advice to the Director, Congressional, and White House inquiries.
Coordinates responses for congressional correspondences as indicated.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday; 8:00am-4:30pm; Subject to change based on the needs of the facility.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 04/29/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Analyzes areas such as budget/procurement, human resources, information technology, and travel.
Execute flexibility in meeting conflicting demands and endorses creativity in problem solving.
Prepare correspondence e.g., email, letters, memorandums etc., reports, policies, procedures, and proposals. Written materials must reflect an expert command and use of the English language, and the ability to communicate abstract concepts.
Manage and coordinate multiple tasks, apply problem-solving techniques, and communicate effectively orally and in writing with professionals at various levels.
Operates computers and software programs, including use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ProClarity, and SharePoint to assist in report development and a variety of other tasks.

Physical Requirements: The position work involves bending, stopping, standing, walking and carrying less than 15lbs. and working a computer terminal.
