About the Position: This position is for Director of Medicine located at Army Medical Center Darnall, Fort Cavazos (Formerly Fort Hood), TX.

Duties

Plan, direct, analyze, and coordinate administrative activities of the clinic on matters pertaining to the delivery of dental health care to patients. Train newly assigned personnel in all aspects of care and operations. Develop and maintain continuous quality improvement in all facets of the dental care delivery system. Ensure all patient treatment and customer service performance data and metrics are accurate, consistent, and timely. Provide management and oversight of day-to-day delivery of dental services within the clinic. Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees. Evaluate work performance of subordinates, incorporating input from professional staff regarding technical work performed.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
  • A pre-placement medical examination is required.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementHealthcare Operations AdministrationHuman Capital ManagementManaging Human Resources Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-).
