Duties

Establishes operating policies to implement administrative management and personnel matters. Functions in an advisory capacity for assigned areas and is relied upon to assure the adequacy of services provided. Coordinates administrative activities within the clinic as directed by Group Practice Manager. Identifies the need for analyses and statistical data. Coordinates support and resolves disputes as needed to coordinate support. Plans a variety of management services essential to operations of the organization.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) providing administrative or clinical management in a health care environment; 2) analyzing health care information to evaluate and/or recommend improvements for the effectiveness or efficiency of health care services; 3) providing administrative or technical oversight to subordinate staff members; 4) providing management advice on matters pertaining to coordinating personnel matters in a medical treatment facility. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
