About the Position: This position will serve as a Supervisory Health Systems Specialist located at Evans Army Community Hospital duty location Fort Carson, CO. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Relieve the professional staff of administrative duties. Provide qualitative and quantitative data on which to make decisions regarding services provided to patients, and to facilitate an efficient utilization management program. Supervises the clinic’s administrative and clerical staff. Review position descriptions of subordinates, develops the standards in which duties are to be performed, coordinated and evaluated against. Responsible involvement with interviewing, hiring, orientation, workload management, counseling, rating, performance appraisals, award recommendations, approving leaves, recommending and/or approving training, and takes disciplinary actions. Establish contact with the patients to resolve complaints and address other complications due to scheduling conflicts. Research appropriate regulation/policies to keep abreast of the latest change in health care management guidance for patients. Produce a variety of correspondence e.g., reports, medical statements, referrals, and memorandums in correct format with appropriate grammar and punctuation.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
• One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
• This position is inclement weather essential. This means that you must be willing to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing various healthcare automated systems; identifying problems with health care processes and recommending improvements; Provide qualitative and quantitative data on which to make decisions regarding Patient's services; Utilizes personnel management policies and procedures to carry out the scope of a health care delivery system responsibilities; Develop and present both written and oral briefings and recommendations, based on a wide range of factors and requirements which affects the total health care delivery system. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Masters or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Hospital Administration, Public Health Administration, Business or Public Administration with course work in Health Care Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
