You will serve as a FIRE PROTECTION INSPECTOR in the Public Safety Department of NAVCONSTRBATCTRGPT.

Duties

You will respond to medical emergencies (e.g., sudden illness, accidental injuries, childbirth) to provide immediate medical attention and treatment. You will instruct public education and training courses (e.g., lectures, basic and technical demonstrations) for an installation. You will operate fire communication equipment to maintain communication during emergency operations. You will advise on guidelines for the use of firefighting equipment. You will inspect fire prevention systems (extinguishers, sprinklers, standpipes, carbon dioxide flooding systems, etc.) to verify required maintenance is performed. You will drive an emergency vehicle (e.g., ambulance, rescue, engine, aerial apparatus) to an emergency services incident.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Demonstrates knowledge of the standards of the National Fire Protection Association, agency and installation instructions, and local, state, and federal prevention ordinances. 2) Interpret fire prevention instructions, regulations, codes, surveys and procedures to manage all phases of the department's fire prevention program; 3) Evaluate fire equipment and supply requirements to maintain and diagnose and correct mechanical problems; 4) Adapt fire protection/ prevention techniques to correct conditions or hazardous situations. Note: This information must be supported in your resume to be considered for this position. This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Firefighter I and II, Fire Instructor I, and Fire Inspector I. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. The following certification, if not already held, must be obtained within 12 months of hire as mandatory condition of position: Fire Inspector II, National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT), Hazmat Operations, and Driver Operator Pumper.
