You will serve as a FIRE PROTECTION INSPECTOR in the PUBLIC SAFETY DEPARTMENT of NAVCONSTRBATCTRGPT.
Duties
You will instruct public education and training courses (e.g., lectures, basic and technical demonstrations) for an installation.
You will advise on guidelines for the use of firefighting equipment.
You will review all plans for new construction, rehabilitation of existing structures, and make recommendations to ensure compliance with fire prevention and protection requirements.
You will maintain comprehensive, specific, and complete records of all reports and correspondence related to fire prevention inspections.
You will coordinate the fire prevention training program.
You will create provisions for setting up protective measure to prohibit potential fire hazards, as well as correct existing hazardous practices.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) conducting fire prevention inspections of buildings and outlying areas in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and local or higher level instruction; 2) creating provisions for setting up protective measures to prohibit potential fire hazards; 3) training civilian and military personnel on fire prevention requirements, fire regulations, correct use and maintenance of first aid firefighting equipment, and installed fire protection equipment; 4) ) adapting fire protection/prevention techniques to correct potential fire hazards or hazardous situations. This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Firefighter I and II, Fire Instructor I, and Fire Inspector II. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement.The following certifications, if not already held, must be obtained within 12 months of hire as mandatory condition of position: Driver/Operator-Pumper, HAZMAT Operations, National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT), Public Fire and Life Safety Educator, and Plans Examiner I. If you do not possess all of the above certifications, you will be rated ineligible.
