You will serve as a FIRE CHIEF in the Fire Department of NAVCONSTRBATCTRGPT.
Duties
You will be responsible for the maintenance, care, and testing of all firefighting equipment and apparatus, including motorized apparatus, fire hoses, ladders, fire reporting systems, automatic sprinkler systems and first aid fire appliances.
You will be serve as an advisor to the Commanding Officer with regard to operation procedures and fire protection issues of concern, responsible for the maintenance of all Fire Department records.
You will develop, amend, and maintain station fire regulations, fire bills, and other directives concerning fire prevention and protection and operation of the Fire Department.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- This is an obligated position. The former incumbent has return rights to this position under PL 86-585.
Qualifications
External applicants (Non-DON, claiming VEOA, VRA, et al): I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-10) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector 1) Interpreting and applying fire protection and prevention theories, principles, methods, techniques, and practices to establish policies and procedures and administer a comprehensive fire protection program; 2) Planning and organizing work operations, as well as, delegating and distributing work, assigning duties, and providing technical supervision and guidance of all Fire Department functions to assigned firefighter personnel; and 3) Managing and expending allotted operating funds and initiating the purchase of equipment and supplies needed for efficient operation a fire department
Internal applicants claiming Current DON: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector 1) Interpreting and applying fire protection and prevention theories, principles, methods, techniques, and practices to establish policies and procedures and administer a comprehensive fire protection program; 2) Planning and organizing work operations, as well as, delegating and distributing work, assigning duties, and providing technical supervision and guidance of all Fire Department functions to assigned firefighter personnel; and 3) Managing and expending allotted operating funds and initiating the purchase of equipment and supplies needed for efficient operation a fire department.
***This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Fire Officer IV, Fire Inspector II, Fire Instructor II, HAZMAT Incident Commander, CPR, and First Responder. Fire certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications and you have not attached copies of your certifications, you will be rated ineligible.***
