You will serve as a HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST (MILITARY) in the Secretary of the Navy Offices (SECNAV) of Board for Correction of Naval Records (BCNR).
Duties
You will present to higher authority, orally and in writing, a balanced summary of salient facts based on a comprehensive examination and analysis of the application for correction of military records and related data.
You will review requests from current and/or former military members and/or their heirs or legal representatives to correct errors or injustices in personnel records.
You will prepare summaries of facts, opinions, and discussions by conducting reviews of proposed testimony and/or evidence and performing legal research.
You will develop fact-finding information when preparing cases for administrative and board actions; and present investigation results in administrative hearings.
You will conduct review of documents, perform legal research and/or prepare summary for supervisory review and interpret facts from information gathered as part of an investigation or inquiry to determine relevance.
You will prepare recommendations for consideration and research historical information regarding cases, and develop and write briefings to recommend actions to decision makers.
You will analyze issues of fact and issues of law in order to evaluate applicability of precedents, and to draft briefs, digests of decisions, or advisory.
You will analyze the results of investigations by applying federal or agency statutes, regulations, policies, or guidelines.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in interpreting military laws and regulations for military records by applying federal or agency statutes, regulations, policies, and guidelines. Assemble military record documents and ensure that all records are available prior to adjudicating or correcting errors or injustices to military records in accordance with applicable statutes, regulations, and policies.Demonstrate knowledgeable of military discharge process.
