About the Position: Plan, schedule, and carry out the projects, programs, and activities of the Integrated Protection Branch. The incumbent provides support and management of the Army Medicine's (MEDCOM) Continuity of Operations (COOP) Program to ensure the organization Mission Essential Functions (MEF) continue to operate with minimal to no interruption.
Duties
Maintain contacts with Federal, state, and local officials involved with various continuity and emergency response plans throughout the Medical Command (MEDCOM) Area of Responsibility (AOR).
Provide support to Army Medicine’s command and general staff during emergency conditions and on a day-to-day basis.
Provide oversight and coordination within MEDCOM on projects related to Continuity of Operations (COOP), defense critical infrastructure (DCI), and emergency management.
Advise on preparedness and response activities associated with executing exercises in accordance with Homeland Security Exercises and Evaluation Program (HSEEP).
Work directly to implement strategies and develop policies that support a national hazard mitigation and national continuity program for MEDCOM.
Requirements
- This position requires you to be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance of access for the duration of employment which includes a background investigation and credit check.
- This position requires Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel approximately 10% of the time away from your permanent duty station.
- This position is identified as Mission Essential which may require you to work or remain at work during an emergency situation or when inclement weather has curtailed operations (e.g., threat to the facility, natural disaster, delayed reporting).
- This position has been designated as “Key” and will not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively.
- You must be exempted from recall to active duty and will receive training to ensure mission accomplishment of sustaining base operations during mobilization.
- This position may require overtime and shift work on short notice to include nights, holidays, and weekends.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) assisting in the development of a continuity program for an organization; 2) implementing emergency response plans; 3) conducting analysis to determine risk and/or mitigation strategies for common and high-impact events; and 4) making recommendations to ensure continuance of an organizations mission essential functions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
