You will serve as a Public Affairs Specialist of NAVSUP FLC PEARL HARBOR.
Duties
You will assist in planning and executing communications and community relations programs to inform and educate customers, employees, public officials, business leaders and the general public about the command’s mission, programs and activities.
You provide editorial support concerning the content of command publications, brochures, pamphlets, presentations and make recommendations to web content managers regarding information content, layout and format.
You will draft articles, publications, speeches, and informational materials to assist the command and keep the workforce, customers and the public fully informed.
You will assist with filtering information to the various media platforms such as newspapers and news programs and drafting press releases, press statements and public announcements.
You will provide photographic and video coverage of command events and maintain a comprehensive photo library of personnel, departments, pas events and other subjects of command interest.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
GS-11
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1. Applying communication principles and methods in supporting a public affairs program involving public and internal information, and community relation activities for internal and external audiences; 2. Utilize skill in writing a variety of articles, stories, and news releases to convey information and clarify command operations, programs, and activities to specialized and general audiences; 3. Use desktop publishing, computer graphics, and other computer programs to prepare publications, presentations, and other materials; 4. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with local media, community groups, and higher echelon representatives.
GS-09 Specialized Experience Requirement:Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Preparing information products (e.g., photos, videos, articles, etc.) for effective dissemination to internal/external audiences; 2) Maintaining official websites, social media accounts, and/or content management systems for public affairs information dissemination; 3) Interacting with news media and organizational groups to arrange public appearances and increase service awareness; and 4) Writing a variety of articles, featured stories and news releases to convey information to audience and the general public.

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
GS-11 SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position: possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, LL.M, or have completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate level education leading to such a degree. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement.
GS-11 COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements.
