Duties
You will assist leadership in planning and coordinating presentations, graphic and illustrative materials to support events, presentations, displays and various informational vehicles.
You will analyze public affairs campaigns in terms of their effectiveness in meeting the information needs of the command’s intended audiences.
You will formulate long-range plans and policies to enhance public and employee understanding, support and acceptance of Public Affairs programs and activities.
You will prepare or assemble information kits, edits informational materials on high profile issues, release videos, photograph and/or feature stories to the news media, and coordinate media interviews of newsworthy events.

- You will be required to successfully complete the Defense Information School (DINFOS) Public Affairs Qualification Course (PAQC) resident or non-resident distance learning course.
- You will be required to successfully complete the Defense Acquisition University (DAU) Acquisition 101 Fundamentals of Systems Acquisition Management distance learning course within five years of initial employment.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1) Providing consultation/advice to the Commander and senior command leadership for the development of public affairs strategies, initiatives and programs to support overall command goals and objectives;
2) Providing public affairs policy guidance to component public affairs personnel relating to their interface with the general public, news media, technical, professional and social organizations, community groups, local, state and federal agencies with which they must deal during the course of their business;
3) Serving as coordinating/releasing authority for all Command information to be released to the public directly or through contractors, other DoD/DoN sources and the Internet to include command public/private web sites;
4) Analyzing and evaluating specific issues generated as a result of public reaction to command programs, projects, and activities, and develops public affairs solutions targeted at specific audiences; and
5) Planning and executing informational materials, using a variety of techniques, to keep command personnel informed about, and increase their understanding of, events, issues, policies, mission and organization changes that affect them.
