About the Position: TACOM is located at the Detroit Arsenal in Warren, Michigan which is in Detroit's largest suburb located about 15 miles north of downtown. The area offers world-class museums, art galleries, concert halls, golf courses, several prestigious universities, and collegiate and professional athletic venues.
Duties
Serves as a Security Specialist for Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) G-3 Protection Integration Division (PID).
Coordinates and continually evaluates a comprehensive Command protection program, including security and law enforcement operations, physical security, crime prevention, and critical infrastructure protection.
Prepares written products such as: Standard Operating Procedures, Inspection In/Out Briefs, Decision Briefs, workforce training courses, Command Newsletters, Orders and specific program plans (AT plan, PS plan, Emergency Action Plans).
Develops and executes OCONUS Travel Program for military, civilian, and contractor personnel for TACOM.
Interprets DoD, Joint service, DA, and Army Materiel Command (AMC) security policies to resolve complex protection issues, ensuring safety of assigned infrastructure and personnel whether located in Continental United States (CONUS) or OCONUS.
Coordinates execution orders with COCOM Planners and ensures plans are executed in accordance with higher headquarters directives.
Processes personnel for Isolated Personnel Reports (ISOPREP), Personnel Recovery, Aircraft and Personnel Automated Clearance System (APACS) requests for Country and Theater Clearances and is appointed as Personnel Recovery Unit Manager.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Required to sign a Situational Telework agreement and, upon management determination, may be required to work from alternate locations.
- May be required to work during local or national emergency situations, such as severe weather, man-made disasters, attack on the United States, furlough or Government-wide shutdown.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% of the time.
- Temporary duty (TDY) travel may be required in CONUS as an organization emergency relocation staff member.
- May be assigned to work at TACOM offices on Detroit Arsenal, Selfridge Air National Guard Base, or a TACOM leased private facility within the Detroit Metro Area.
- This position is designated as Key. For positions located within the Continental US (CONUS), the position cannot be vacated during war or national emergency without seriously impairing the mission
- This position has a data analytics requirement. The incumbent must meet all requirements for data analytics level 1 certification (DATACL1i - TACOM D and A Level 1 Certification) within 12 months of being placed on the position.
- Incumbent must obtain the following core SPeD Certification either: a) Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC), b) Physical Security Certification (PSC), or c) Antiterrorism Credential (ATC) within the first two years of employment.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain ATO Level II certification within 90 days of being placed on the position.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Conducting assessments and risk analysis of critical infrastructure and/or standalone facilities; (2) Providing area of responsibility (AOR) Briefs for official OCONUS travel; and (3) Evaluating the effectiveness of Antiterrorism (AT) protection plans and/or programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
