You will serve as a Boiler Plant Worker in the UEM Product Line, Public Works Business Line of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.

Duties

You will track plant efficiency using fuel specifications, steam tables and other guides. You will maintain operational log and computes data for boiler room log sheet. You will inspect safety valves and automatic safety devices for flame extinction, automatic ignition, low water cut out and high pressure cut out. You will inspect for leaks, corrosion and pitting. You will locate source of trouble when visual inspection or meters indicate malfunctioning equipment or dangerous conditions. You will perform operational maintenance, minor repairs and overhaul during shut down periods.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current state of Virginia Visible Emissions Evaluator certification.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Fourth-Class Operator license using National Association of Power Engineers criteria or its equivalent within one year of onboarding.
  • You may be assigned to a similar position at any site or workstation within NAVFAC Midlant area.
  • This position is an ALPHA position. You will be required to report in emergencies and inclement weather.
  • You may be called upon to serve as a Gas Free Technician or Qualified Person.
  • You will be required to receive confined space training prior to assuming duties that require entry into a confined space.
