You will serve as a BOILER PLANT OPERATOR LEADER in the FACILITIES MANAGEMENT DIVISION of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.
Duties
You will use electronic/hydraulic/pneumatic controls and zone charts to determine adjustments/corrections for proper boiler operations.
You will start/operate/adjust/stop/maintain/perform various operational repairs on single or multiple fuel power boilers.
You will perform operational maintenance and repairs to ensure safety of personnel and equipment.
You will analyze boiler and feed water to determine chemical treatment needed.
Observe readings on gauges, meters, and charts registering aspects of boiler operations to verify boilers are operating correctly.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver?s license.
- You will be required to obtain or possess within one year, a valid third-class operator license using the National Association of Power Engineers criteria or its equivalent.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current CPR certification.
Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Providing guidance on maintenance and operational repairs on power boilers, auxiliary, and pollution control equipment; 2) Operate, maintain, and repair a central heat plant verifying the pressure exceeds the flash point to prevent steam flashing; 3) Maintain plant logs, laboratory records, and quality control records to document operation and maintenance on a steam plant; 4) Adjust valves, control pumps, and regulate pressure atomizing burners, dampers, and fans to maintain correct fuel to air ratio for the most economical operation.
