About the Position: This position is with The Chemical Biological Center (CBC). The Chemical Biological Center (CBC) is participating in an alternative personnel system known as the Laboratory Personnel Demonstration Project (DEMO). The pay band DE-03 is equal to the former GS-12 step 01 through GS-14 step 10.

Duties

Serve as a supervisor managing a subordinate staff of technicians, operators and scientists supporting complex projects that involve chemical and biological surety materiel with and without explosives, as well as other hazardous materials. Perform or direct activities including the receipt, storage, handling, demilitarization, analysis and monitoring of chemical, biological and industrial devices at the Center or at other CONUS or OCONUS locations. Develop plans, strategies, milestones, and schedules for distribution of work. Advise senior leadership on matters related to operations and participates in development of policy and procedures for chemical and biological operations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Secret Security clearance required
  • Business travel (TDY) may be required 50% of the time.
  • Subject to travel on short notice to both CONUS or OCONUS locations.
  • Requires random drug testing and medical evaluation IAW AR 50-1 and/or AR 50-6
  • Requires successful completion of pre-employment physical exam
  • Position requires certification in the Biological Personnel Reliability Program (BPRP) and/or the Chemical Personnel Reliability Program (CPRP), IAW AR 50-1 and/or AR 50-6.
  • One year supervisory probationary period required if not previously served.

Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Executing operational plans and procedures, performing duties that require analytical ability, judgment, and knowledge of the mission; 2) Providing recommendations to operational issues involving receipt, storage, handling, demilitarization and physical protection of Chemical, Biological and Industrial devices at CONUS/OCONUS locations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (DE-02/GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementLeadershipTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (DE-02/GS-11).
