Duties
This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), Alaska Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) Regional Director, in Anchorage, AK.
At the full performance level (GS-9) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Serves as the confidential administrative advisor to the Regional Director (RD)/Deputy Regional Director (DRD). Intuitively recognizes potentially controversial issues and alerts the RD/DRD of the impending situation before it develops into a problem. Takes initiative to direct potentially controversial issues to appropriate managers.
2. Briefs the Alaska OCS Region managers on new administrative issues and procedures.
3. Serves as the Executive Assistant to all staff in the Alaska OCS Region which includes positions with administrative, records management, budget, training, tribal and community outreach, and policy and procedural management functions of the Alaska OCS Region.
4. Serves as an Alaska Region representative on various BOEM internal control teams to assess the internal controls of various programs in the Bureau.
5. Provides the administrative support necessary for the Alaska OCS Region including: time and attendance, records management, property inventory, acquisition and payment of office supplies, training and personnel procedures, purchase requisitions, and budgetary matters.
BOEM has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.
Salary Information
GS-09: $67,738 - $88,058 per annum. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level.
This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
To qualify for this position you must meet the Specialized Experience or Education for the series to which you are applying.
A. Specialized Experience
To qualify for the GS-09, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience:
1. Managing executive correspondence to include formatting, proofing, editing, preparing correspondence for signature, and tracking the status of documents;
2. Monitoring, coordinating, providing information, and developing administrative processes and procedures to facilitate administrative activities for an office;
3. Preparing agendas, reports, and briefing materials for meetings of managers; and
4. Managing long-range calendars, scheduling travel, and completing all pre- and post-trip documentation for one or more supervisors.

B. Educational Requirement: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. (Transcripts Required)

C. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of specialized experience and education in excess of the first full year of graduate level education that totals 100% of the requirement. (Transcripts Required)
