You will serve as a CONTAINMENT FABRICATOR WORKER in the Production Resources Department (Code 900), Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Service Shop (Code 990) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will interpret and check plans, blueprints, and sketches and information received from supervisors and
other workers in order to develop enclosures for those less complex situations encountered.
You will select, cut, shape, join, bond, fit and assemble containments.
You will make a variety of routine containment items with a number of interlocking parts to fit and join
precisely to ensure safety hazards have been addressed.
You will have the ability to perform a range of assignments with the basic knowledge of theories, principles, techniques, and practices of design and drawing to work from different view.
You will have the basic knowledge and skill in mathematical principles of arithmetic, algebra, and geometry to figure out irregular curves, angles, planes, pitches, cylindrical, tapered, truncated cones and frustums for containment lay out.
You will use equipment and instruments to prepare and manufacture containments.
You will have basic knowledge of the hazards of the situation and utilize and meet the appropriate OSHA and EPA requirements when fabricating the Containment.
You will assist others in the use of drafting software such as Auto Computer Aided Design (CAD) or Solid Edge to layout complex isometric drawings into detailed 2-dimensional lay flat views.
You will have knowledge of trade materials for containment fabrication.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- The position often requires irregular hours.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Ability to perform the full range of tasks including knowledge of trade materials for containment fabrication including but not limited to various polyurethane, poly vinyl chloride, ballistic grade nylon, canvas, lint free cloths, silicone rubbers, materials and adhesives for environmental, temperature, weather, etc.
Ability to perform common tasks including basic knowledge and ability to plan, organize, coordinate, requirements as they relate to the assigned off-hull and in-hull containments and enclosures.
