You will serve as a SHOP PLANNER (CONTAINMENT FABRICATOR) in the Production Resources Department (Code 900),
Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901),Production Resources Shop (Code 990), Emergency Services of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will evaluate the fabrication needs of a wide range of complex Containment Barriers throughout the shipyard including such areas radiological and non-radiological, nuclear and non-nuclear situations.
You will interpret and check plans, blueprints, and sketches and information received from supervisors and other officials assigned to the work area to fabricate in order to develop enclosures for all situations encountered.
You will work together with the staff to ensure the determined, cuts, shapes, joins, bonds, fits, materials, time lines etc., for containment assembly is met.
You will prepare material request forms as necessary, indicates status including delivery dates and location of material, occasionally contacts suppliers to locate needed material and secure prices.
You will monitor new work and subsequent changes, identifying new material needs, schedule determinants, or documentation updates necessary to complete the task.
You will identify Hazardous materials and determines project location for the pick-up and disposal of such materials.
You will maintain organized and precise records for each task.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to lift and/or carry loads/items up to 45 pounds in weight.
- This position requires that the selectee be willing and able to climb ladders and scaffolding.
- I am willing and able to work in small and/or confined spaces.
