You will serve as a Supervisory Supply Management Specialist in the Supply Management Department of NAVSUP FLEET LOGISTICS CENTER NORFOLK.

Duties

You will be responsible and accountable for staff direction and accomplishment of all department program activities in accordance with laws, policies, procedures, regulations, and acceptable practices. You will be instrumental in shaping or reshaping supply management and logistics processes. You will develop long and short term program policies, goals, objectives, and measurement criteria. You will develop studies of appropriate scope with metrics necessary to generate managerial information to improve effectiveness and accuracy of supply operations. You will serve as a subject matter expert/key advisor to the Commanding Officer and the Command providing guidance relative to program operating strategies and plans.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • This position is considered Key/Non-Combat Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support of the expeditionary requirements in other than combat or combat support situations.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: utilizing an expert knowledge of a broad range of integrated logistics support and supply program relationships along with an expertise in areas of supply information, inventory management, storage/distribution, and methods and techniques to analyze and evaluate supply programs, specific duties include: 1. Develop annual strategic plans (i.e. department vision, values, goals, processes and metrics) for a supply department and ensure implementation by monitoring the performance of the departments multiple sub divisions; 2. Inspect supply services for conformance with policy, regulatory, and program requirements and recommend, initiate, advise, and direct corrective actions as necessary; 3. Direct broad and encompassing analytical studies to generate relevant metrics/managerial information necessary to improve effectiveness and accuracy of supply operations; 4. Serve as subject matter expert to Command and key management officials, providing authoritative and critical guidance relative supply program operating strategies and plans; 5. Oversee planning, direction, and execution of a supply program managed through several subordinate branches.
