Duties

Conceptualizes, plans, coordinates, and executes all protocol aspects and special ceremonies hosted by senior AFC leadership. Assists the Protocol Office in determining protocol support requirements for Senior Level Civilian Service Members and General Officers, for official visits, ceremonies and other functions. Plans, coordinates, executes, and supervises the conduct of official special events such as Arrival and Farewell Ceremonies, Awards Ceremonies, Promotion Ceremonies and social events. Responds to requests for advice/assistance in all matters/activities relative to proper protocol procedures.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Secret security clearance required.
  • Business Travel (TDY) up to 10% of the time.
  • Two year trial/probationary period required.
  • The employee may be required to work overtime.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Planning, coordinating, and executing protocol aspects and special ceremonies for a large organization/agency; 2) Assisting in determining protocol requirements for functions; and 3) Communicating (oral and written) with senior level leaders and staff within an organization and with external customers in order to provide information and guidance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS09) OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration, Communication. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementInterpersonal SkillsOrganizational AwarenessTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS09)
