DUTY LOCATION OF THIS POSITION IS INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA; THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION.
Duties
Serves as a first line supervisor responsible for supervising and managing the day-to-day activities of the Position Management and Classification Division of the DFAS Human Resources Directorate.
Provides advisory and consultative services to employees and managers regarding complex position classification, position management and organizational design.
Plans, organizes, coordinates and reviews program activities to advise and guide managers to ensure the most efficient and effective position structures are established and maintained.
Oversees special position management studies designed to develop options for long-term or future customer needs.
Evaluates program activities to determine effectiveness, and implements policies and procedures to improve operations.
Supervises a team of position classification specialists and support staff to include planning, assigning and overseeing work, training and developing staff, and resolving grievances and complaints.

Qualifications
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-12) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized experience is described as advising and guiding senior management regarding Federal civilian position management and classification regulation, policy and standards; participating in projects associated with position classification and the review and structure of organizations; and preparing written documents used in support of an organization's position management or classification mission requirements.
Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-12 or higher grade in Federal Service.
