You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (DRAFTING) in the PLANNING, DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION DIR of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.

Duties

You will assists in preparation of designs, specifications and cost estimates for a wide range of shore facility projects. You will provide advice, solutions and assists the design and/or construction lead engineer on technical issues requiring extensive knowledge of engineering practices and construction methods. You will review project plans, specifications and submittals prior to contract award and during execution for technical soundness. You will utilize computer aided drafting and design software (CADD) and techniques. You will operate and manage the physical and electronic drawing vault for the regional AOR.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1. Prepare designs, specifications and cost estimates for a wide range of shore facility projects. 2. Design for facilities requiring extensive alterations, modifications or repair to extend their useful life to meet demands placed upon shore facilities. 3. Review project plans, specifications and submittals prior to contract and be aware during execution for technical soundness, compliance with Navy requirements, and to determine practicability from a construction management standpoint.
