You will serve as a PROTOCOL OFFICER in the N00 of NAVAL SPECIAL WARFARE GROUP EIGHT.

Duties

You will develop, update, and implement a protocol program for the NSWG-8 Commander that effectively supports both prescribed protocol principles and Naval Special Warfare Commands Strategic Engagement Oversight Council (SEOC) outreach campaign plan. You will direct and oversee the formulation of all arrangements for the total orchestration of Command social and official functions, to include visits to NSWG-8 and its subordinate elements. You will prepare a summary to brief the Public Affairs Officer (PAO), Executive Assistant, Chief of Staff, and Commander to obtain approval on proposed plan. You will be responsible for logistical and administrative support of the Commander's hosted social events. You will arrange various types of conferences for the Commander ranging in scope from Naval Special Warfare Commander's Conferences to those encompassing sensitive matters of high-level social/political importance. You will maintain a current and complete file of all official biographies for civilian and military dignitaries/VIPs. You will analyze and evaluate the protocol program to ascertain adequacy, propriety, and completeness and to determine the degree of program accomplishment.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Top Secret SCI security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position is subject to random counterintelligence scope polygraph examinations.
  • You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • This position requires personal attendance at hosted social and official functions involving extended work hours on holidays, weekends, and throughout the work week.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: planning, evaluating, developing, coordinating, and personally overseeing all aspects of the protocol program for a Major Command (or equivalent) and its subordinate commands. GS-13: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: overseeing a protocol program ensuring official procedures between military and civilian senior leaders within U.S. and foreign governments are followed, developing protocol policies and procedures, coordinating and executing itineraries and schedule of events for distinguished visitors (DV), and coordinating high visibility social and official events for the Command and/or Flag Officer.
