Duties

Independently conceptualizes, plans, coordinates, and executes all protocol aspects of visits of high ranking US and foreign dignitaries, and special ceremonies hosted by AFC. Assists the Protocol Office in determining protocol support requirements for visiting dignitaries and high ranking officials. Coordinates directly with appropriate individuals to facilitate arrangements for site and facility selection, procurement of awards, press coverage, gift exchanges, appropriate menu selections, meetings, invitations, seating arrangements, etc.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% of the time.
  • One year probationary period may be required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Planning protocol support services and social functions in honor of senior-ranking government and military leaders, diplomats, foreign military representatives, and distinguished dignitaries; 2) Providing recommendations and assisting in the development of new methods and approaches to a protocol program; AND 3) Communicating (oral and written) with senior level leaders and staff within an organization and with external customers in order to provide information and guidance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementInterpersonal SkillsOrganizational AwarenessTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
