This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Human Resource Division, Office of Talent Acquisition (HRT)
Classification Unit.
The position provides a full range of human resource classification activities to include position evaluation, position reviews, audits, and providing advisory services to management and staff on classification techniques and findings.

As a Human Resources Specialist (Classification)your typical work assignments may include, but are not limited to:
Applying a thorough and comprehensive understanding of classification principles and concepts to interpret and adapt classification guides to secure sound decisions on positions.
Writing comprehensive evaluation statements explaining decisions made in applying the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) classification standards to classify assigned positions.
Providing technical advice to assist managers and supervisors in exercising their delegated authority for classification.
Conducting on-site or telephonic interviews of key management officials and staff to perform on-site desk audits.
Exercising delegated classification authority to develop and evaluate/certify position responsibilities for all position actions including a significant amount of highly complex positions.
Requirements

Qualifications
Applicants must meet the Specialized Experience requirements as noted below. Qualification claims will be subject to verification.
You may qualify at the GS-12 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrate your ability in: 1) Interpreting and applying OPM position classification standards; 2) Preparing evaluation statements to justify proper title, series and grade level for position descriptions; and, 3) Advising management on position classification processes and conducting audits.
You may qualify at the GS-13 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrate your ability in: 1) Interpreting and applying OPM position classification standards; 2) Preparing evaluation statements to justify proper titles, series and grade levels for position descriptions; 3) Advising management on position classification processes; and, 4) Conducting on-site/telephonic audits.
Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
